We’re recruiting an experienced Live-In Domestic Couple to join a private household on a peaceful estate and farm in Hampshire, approximately 15 minutes from Reading.
This is a long-term opportunity for a couple who take real pride in looking after a home, gardens and wider property. The family is looking for a proactive, practical and self-motivated couple who can confidently take ownership of their respective areas while working together to ensure the household and estate are always well cared for.
The position is Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend house and pet sitting, and comes with a beautifully renovated three-bedroom bungalow with its own entrance and private garden.

A Long-Term Opportunity for a Domestic Couple Near Reading
This is a varied position combining approximately 20 hours per week of housekeeping with a full-time Maintenance Manager/Gardener role of approximately 40 hours per week.
The Housekeeper will take responsibility for the day-to-day upkeep and organisation of the family’s six-bedroom main house and a two-bedroom cottage on the estate. The Maintenance Manager/Gardener will look after the gardens, outdoor areas and wider farm grounds, alongside general property maintenance and improvement projects.
The family is looking for a capable couple who are comfortable working independently within their own areas while also working together when required.
About the Family & Estate
The family lives on a peaceful private estate and farm in Hampshire, around 15 minutes from Reading.
The estate includes a six-bedroom main house, a two-bedroom cottage, gardens and wider farm grounds.
The family has children and pets, although there are no childcare responsibilities. The couple will occasionally be asked to house sit and care for the family’s friendly dog while the owners are away.
Housekeeper Responsibilities
The housekeeping element of the position will be approximately 20 hours per week and will include:
- General cleaning of the six-bedroom main house
- Cleaning and maintaining the two-bedroom cottage
- Laundry and ironing
- Keeping both properties consistently clean and well presented
- Home organisation
- General household administration
- Managing household tasks
- Arranging dry cleaning
- Assisting with contractors and tradespeople visiting the property
- Occasional assistance when the family is hosting a dinner party
There is no regular meal planning required and no childcare responsibility.
Maintenance Manager / Gardener Responsibilities
The Maintenance Manager/Gardener will work approximately 40 hours per week and take responsibility for the gardens, outdoor areas and general upkeep of the wider property.
Responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining the gardens and outdoor areas
- General upkeep of the wider farm grounds
- Carrying out general property maintenance and repairs
- Overseeing property improvement projects
- Coordinating external contractors and tradespeople
- Identifying maintenance issues and taking appropriate action
- Carrying out practical jobs directly where appropriate
- Recognising when a specialist contractor is required
The couple will also share responsibility for occasional house sitting and dog care. There may occasionally be a requirement to assist with airport transfers.
The Ideal Domestic Couple for This Estate
We’re looking for a couple who:
- Have previous experience working together as a domestic couple
- Are looking for a stable, permanent and long-term position
- Are proactive, practical and self-motivated
- Are confident working independently and together
- Have strong housekeeping, home organisation and household management experience
- Have good gardening, maintenance and general property-care skills
- Are confident overseeing and liaising with contractors and tradespeople
- Are dog-friendly and happy to pet sit occasionally
- Are discreet, trustworthy and respectful of the family’s privacy
- Hold driving licences and have access to at least one vehicle
Hours, Salary & Accommodation
Monday–Friday
Occasional weekend house and pet sitting
ASAP start
£60,000–£65,000 joint salary, depending on experience
A beautifully renovated three-bedroom bungalow is provided with the position, with its own separate entrance and private garden.
