This is a relaxed, family-oriented home in a large farmhouse nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, near the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water. The couple is often joined by their grown-up children and grandchildren, so the house can be both calm and lively depending on the season. The household includes three elderly dogs, cats, and horses, and the family is looking for someone who is not only confident in home care but also genuinely enjoys being around animals.
What This Live-In Housekeeper Role Involves
This is a hands-on, independent role with a strong focus on keeping the house running smoothly—especially when the family is away. You’ll also care for the dogs and support the family when they’re home with general household tasks.
Working Hours:
- 35 hours per week with flexibility
- Some weekends required, particularly when the family are home
Accommodation:
- Self-contained one-bedroom bungalow on the property
Salary:
- £18–£22 gross per hour
Main Responsibilities:
- General housekeeping (cleaning, tidying, laundry, and wardrobe care)
- Occasional family-style cooking (a bonus, not essential)
- Light errands and overseeing household needs
- Dog care: walking, feeding, vet trips, and companionship
- Property care and security when the family is away
- Occasional support with informal entertaining
- Working with other staff including a groom for the horses
