About the Garden
Located in the rolling countryside of West Wycombe (HP14), this estate boasts an expansive and diverse garden setting. The grounds feature formal lawns, ornamental beds, and a kitchen garden, all set within the tranquillity of the Buckinghamshire landscape. Until now, the garden has been maintained by a contract team, but the principal is now bringing the role in-house and is looking for someone to take ownership and bring consistency, care, and creativity to the space.
What This Full-Time Gardener Role Involves
You’ll be responsible for all year-round maintenance and development of the garden, working closely with the principal to bring his vision to life while ensuring the grounds remain immaculate.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Salary:
- £35,000 – £45,000 gross per annum (depending on experience)
Main Responsibilities:
- General garden maintenance: mowing, pruning, weeding, planting
- Lawn care using ride-on mowers and other machinery
- Seasonal planting and developing new beds
- Management and upkeep of the kitchen garden
- Overseeing external contractors when needed
- Keeping machinery and tools in good working order
- Collaborating with the principal on plans and improvements
The Ideal Gardener for This Estate
This role would suit someone with strong horticultural skills and a desire to work independently on a large, varied estate. You’ll need to be organised, proactive, and confident using a range of garden tools and machinery.
You’ll Be:
- An experienced gardener with a background in private estates or similar
- Skilled in garden machinery (including ride-on mowers and strimmers)
- Self-motivated and able to work alone with minimal supervision
- Passionate about plants, produce, and year-round garden care
- Comfortable liaising with contractors and working flexibly with the principal
